It’s unbelievable, Indonesia has known as a tropical country but a snow storm can be happened. That is what happens when dozens of homes were damaged hit by a snowstorm about eight pm in Sijunjung regency, West Sumatra, Indonesia on Wednesday, March 28.
Based on provisional data from BPBD (Regional Disaster Management Agency) West Sumatra, there are 48 houses with floating roofs and two shattered houses besides of damaging a number of schools. Fortunately, there were no fatalities, only material losses and Regional Disaster Management Agency is still calculating it losses. “Snow Storm has never happened, this is the first time that has happened in Sumatra,” says one of local official.
According to him, people whose homes were damaged by being hit by snow storms have been evacuated to safe places. For a while, the activities of Sijunjung people are still in recovery and still worries about Snow storm continuation and they expect the Government will give help for them quickly.
